2015 Releases I Didn't Read
Today's Top Ten Tuesday is 2015 book releases I wanted to get to, but didn't.
Oh there are plenty.
-
Re Jane by Patricia Park - This is a modern retelling of Jane Eyre. Yum!
-
Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee - Hanging my head in shame. One of the greatest surprises in literary history and I didn't read it! In my defense it came out right at the beginning of my worst personal reading slump ever. Also, I do own a copy. I could start at any time.
-
Uprooted by Naomi Novic - I loved her Temeraire series about dragons helping to fight the Napoleonic wars. This is said to feel like a fairy tale.
-
Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson - I loved her first memoir Let's Pretend This Never Happened. I even bought a copy of this book with my birthday gift card. Still haven't read it.
-
The Turner House by Angela Flournoy - This book is about a family in Detroit facing the reality that the house they grew up in isn't worth a tenth of its mortgage.
-
H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald - I didn't get to this in 2015, but I'm almost half way through it now!
-
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah - This book has had a wait list on it since it came out almost a year ago. It's reported to be a fabulous WWII historical fiction. This is on the library book club's list for this year, so it will get read.
-
Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff - I have enjoyed the other two of Groff's novels. I've heard good things about this one. But I didn't pick it up.
-
Girl at War by Sara Novic - This is about Eastern Europe in the early 90's. Yeah. Erk. It sounds fascinating.
-
Dead Wake by Erik Larson - This is kind of a cheat. I actually had this book in my hands. But it was slump time and I couldn't get past the first chapter. I really want to, though.
So there are my excuses. What did you miss last year, that you wish you'd gotten to?
