Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

Crazy Rich Asians

This book is kind of exactly what I expected and kind of a complete surprise. I expected fluffy drama.I didn't expect to laugh out loud and gasp in shock and read 400 pages in one day. That all happened.

Nick is a Singaporean man living in New York City. His best friend is getting married and he's decided to take his Chinese girlfriend (raised in the U.S.) with him. He doesn't tell her his family is one of the oldest and wealthiest families in Singapore. He doesn't know that he is one of the most eligible bachelors in Asia.

Nick's cousin, Astrid, is one of Asia's biggest fashionista's and spends millions of dollars each year on couture designs. She is married to a regular guy who chafes at not being able to support her in the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed.

All of this leads to one amazingly soapy scene after another. Luckily, there are more redeeming characters in this book than your typical soap opera. I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish.
