Goodreads Update 9/26/16
Hello there! Welcome to this completely reasonable Goodreads update, in which I have only added 6 books since my last update. We won't talk about the fact that that update was only 2 weeks ago.
-
Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick - I just love her. She's super smart and funny. So of course I'd have to read her memoir.
-
Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue - I won this from a giveaway at work. A man from Cameroon bags a job as a chauffeur for a senior executive at Lehman Brothers. When the banking world falls apart they are all in this together.
-
Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance - In this society, the only group it's still okay to make fun of are the hillbillies, rednecks, and white trash. This book is an homage to those groups.
-
Eat Dirt by Dr. Josh Axe - I started reading this, then hit my slump, so I put it back on my TBR to pick up again later.
-
Slade House by David Mitchell - This is the October book club book, so I put it on my list. Short, creepy, scary house book. Sounds perfect for October. Also, it meets one of my challenges to read a horror book. Woot!
-
We Gon' Be Alright: Notes on Race and Resegregation by Jeff Chang - This is a book of essays about the current state of race relations in America. This is definitely a thing I've been thinking a lot more about, lately, given my current place of employment.
So there are my 6 new books on my TBR. I'm feeling mighty self-restrained today.
