Character Names I Would Name A Pet

Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is Characters I'd Name a Pet After. Actually, you could choose child/pet/car/etc, but I think the pet thing is the most fun, so here we go.

  1. Guido - After Guido Brunetti in Donna Leon's mystery series. What a great name for a dog, amirite?

  2. Ernest - from The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. I think this is a great cat name.

  3. Blue - from Maggie Steifvater's The Raven Cycle. This is a good name for a hound dog. I met a huge pit bull named Blue, once. Beautiful dog.

  4. Mabel - After the goshawk from H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald. This could be for a cat or a dog.

  5. Vida Winter - From The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. What a cat name!

  6. Lestat - From Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Another excellent cat name.

  7. Darcy and Bingley - I had a friend whose cats were name Darcy and Bingley. I think this is appropriate.

  8. Agnes - from Hannah Kent's Burial Rites. This would be a good dog name. Or maybe a fish or lizard.

  9. Nao - from The Tale of the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. Considering that this sounds like "now" I think it would be a great cat name.

  10. Zelda - from Lee Smith's Guests on Earth. Zelda Fitzgerald is a secondary character in this book, so really the animal would be named after her, but whatever.
