My Holds List
I shared my checkout list with you the other day. Confession: the number of books I have on hold dwarfs the number I have checked out.
Here they are:
Your Hate Mail Will Be Graded by John Scalzi - When I was raving about Scalzi on another post I discovered the existence of this collection of essays. The forward is written by Wil Wheaton.
All American Boys by Jason Reynolds - This is another Sequoyah 2017 nominee. The author will be in town on the 7th. I have to work. Sigh.
Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld - I have been anxiously awaiting this one for months! It's a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Squee!!
Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli - Still on hold for this one. SOMEbody needs to check out her holds already, so I might get it one day.
Winter by Christopher Nicholson - A novelization of the life of Thomas Hardy.
I Woke Up Dead at the Mall by Judy Sheehan - I know that's how I feel at the mall...
Burn Baby Burn by Meg Medina - This is about a young woman in NYC in the summer of 1977. Also knows as the Summer of Sam.
Switched On by John Elder Robison - This author is fascinating. He has Aspbergers and his mind is just spellbinding.
Bone Gap by Laura Ruby - Another Sequoyah 2017 nominee.
The Road to Little Dribbling by Bill Bryson - Yay! New Bryson!
The Queen of the Night by Alexander Chee - This is a historical fiction about an opera singer.
Lust & Wonder by Augusten Burroughs - Burroughs is a wild child and I can't wait to see what he's doing next.
You Are A BadAss by Jen Sincero - More self empowerment.
Modern Lovers by Emma Straub - I've heard she's good.
The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman - Regency mystery. Yes please.
Step Aside, Pops by Kate Beaton - This is a collection of comics. Usually with a literary bent. They make me feel smart.
Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond - More sociology homework.
Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye - Jane Eyre as vigilante serial killer. Yes please.
Smarter Faster Better by Charles Duhigg - Because why not?
The Waters of Eternal Youth by Donna Leon - 'Nuff said.
American Housewife by Helen Ellis - Short stories.
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard - This caused a brief stir on BookTube recently. I'll give it a shot.
The Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson - You know. The author of Major Pettigrew's Last Stand.
Lost Classics by various authors - Best selling authors talk about classic books. Woot!
Delilah Dirk and the King's Shilling by Tony Cliff - Volume two of the Delilah Dirk graphic novel series.
Lumberjanes vol. 3 by Noelle Stevenson - Because Vol. 2 was so great.
Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton - This is getting lots of press on Booktube.
Ms. Marvel vol 3 and vol 4 by G. Willow Wilson - Because Ms. Marvel
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare - I keep trying to get into her books. Maybe this will be the one.
The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin - The third book in the Passage series. I probably need to read the second one, too.
That's way too many. Sigh.
