Weekend Update 7/9/18

I'm sitting in the airport at Syracuse because I had to check out of my hotel way before my flight leaves. I turned in my rental car, checked my bag, and now I'm chilling at the gate. I'm gonna get some lunch in a bit since it's 1:30.

I thought while I was just sitting here, I would catch you up on what I've read this weekend.

Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson - I started this when I got on the plane in Tulsa. I finished it in the hotel room after I checked in Friday afternoon. It was a great book. I may have been completely shocked by the twist at the end, but it didn't change my feelings about the book.

Happy People Read and Drink Coffee by Agnes Martin-Lugand - If this book hadn't been only 200 pages, I'm not sure I would have finished it. I really didn't care for the main character. Which I feel like a heel for saying because her husband and daughter are killed in the first chapter, but she has never had to work, she owns a literary cafe that makes no money, just for fun. Her husband took care of everything because she just was an overgrown child. I don't hold a lot of truck with people like that. This was an ARC copy which means it's not completely finished, so I tried not to let the spelling errors and structural problems bother me. But the character issue - I struggled with that.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber - I started this last night while I was relaxing in the hotel. I picked it back up after I got through security at the airport. I am now 100 pages into it. I'll read some more on the plane and during my layover in Chicago. It's 400 pages, but it's going pretty fast. I even pulled a couple of books out of my suitcase and put them in my backpack in case I finished this one before I ran out of reading time.

So that catches us up to what I've read this weekend. It was kind of fabulous really.
