Friday Reads 9-27-19

Whoo boy! Friday again. Couldn't come fast enough for me. I may need to revisit my reading plans. I am just not keeping up. I'm not going to finish at least one book this month. And I have a hot date this weekend to go see Les Miserables, so that will take out a chunk of time. But hey! I don't have to work, so there's that.

Let Me Hear a Rhyme by Tiffany D. Jackson - I'm listening to this on audiobook which is going a lot faster than if I was reading with my eyes. I have it sped up to almost double speed because these readers talk slloooooowww. I'm almost half way through it now, but I don't get a lot of listening time on the weekends.

Death at the Chateau Bremont by M.L. Longworth - I've only read a little bit of this, but I'm enjoying it immensely. It reminds me a lot of Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache, but with even more French. The only problem is, the print is tiny and it fills up the whole page. It's not a fast read. But I'm still holding out hope.

Killing November by Adriana Mathers - This is the one I think I'm going to have to let go. It was dropped by my reading group. I only still had it on my list for a readathon, but I think it's just not happening. It's quite long, and I have other things to do.

Now, we'll talk about what I'm going to start next week.

Detroit City is the Place to Be: The Afterlife of an American Metropolis by Mark Binelli - This has been on my TBR since July 2014. I have this weird fascination with Detroit. Like, how can a city just crumble like that? Anyway, this is the next Detroit book on my list. Yes, there are more.

Call It What You Want by Brigid Kimmerer - This is the author of A Curse So Dark and Lonely that I loved and forced on everyone I know. This one is about two kids in high school with big problems. They are paired together for a project. I feel like it's a romance, but the blurb gives no indication of such a thing. We shall see.

All Eyes on Us by Kit Frick - One of the readers in my reading group said this is better than Spin, which I read last spring. It'd have to be pretty darn good to be better than Spin. But I'm going to give it a shot.

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli - I grabbed this one because one of my dancers just read it and was raving about it. I'm not going to give myself a time limit on this one. I'll just read it until I finish it.

I don't have a lot for next week because it's only 6 days. Actually, I'm going to spread two of those books over 2 weeks and then the last one will be spread indefinitely. So, no pressure. hahahahaha! I'm hilarious.
