Goodreads Update Sep. 2021 pt. 2
Let's see how profligate I was with adding things to my Goodreads TBR. opens app
Only 10! Woo hoo! Here we go.
The Sentence by Louise Erdrich - I have to be in the right mood to read Erdrich. Like, I can't be feeling fragile or depressed. Her books are tough. Beautiful, but tough.
Beasts of a Little Land by Juhea Kim - This is a historical novel set in early 20th century Korea. It might be a romance? It's hard to tell.
Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead - One day I will actually read a Whitehead novel. I have several on my list. Like the Erdrich, his books can be very difficult.
Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki - Billed as "Good Omens" meets "The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet"... I'm sold.
The Taking of Jemima Boone: The True Story of the Kidnap and Rescue That Shaped America by Matthew Pearl - Pearl's books have been too much for me in the past. Too gory. Too disgusting. But they were novels. We'll see if non-fiction does something different.
Sixteen Scandals by Sophie Jordan - We got this for the award, but I'm not entirely sure it's a YA novel. Sophie Jordan typically writes adult romance. Either way, I'm down for it. I'll just move it from my award shelf to my TBR shelf.
A Slow Fire Burning by Paula Hawkins - I liked Girl on the Train by Hawkins, so I went ahead and added this to my TBR. It just came out, or is coming soon.
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling - Erin Sterling is a pen name for an author whose YA books are funny and weird. This is probably a romance in the end. I'm ok with that.
The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman - I've heard this is great. A little cozy mystery type thing, but maybe a level up in literary merit.
56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard - This is a pandemic thriller. Or maybe a mystery. Either way, this couple decides to hole up together when the pandemic hits and everyone has to stay at home. 56 days later, one of them is dead.
And that's it! I was rather circumspect with my adding this time. Probably because I went through and removed a boatload of books from my TBR that I just really don't care about anymore. Go me!
