December 2021 Goodreads Update pt. 3
Yes. Part 3. I put so many books on my Goodreads TBR that I had to break it up into 3 parts. I think that is a function of end-of-year best-of lists and 2022 pre-release anticipation. Also, my anticipation of being able to read at Whim again in the relatively near future. Soon I will be able to say, "I will finish award reading this year!"
Anyway, here are the rest of the books I've added to my to-read shelf since the last update.
Badass Habits: Cultivate the Awareness, Boundaries, and Daily Upgrades You Need to Make Them Stick by Jen Sincero - Sincero has written a whole series of badass books. Have I read any of them? No. But I like their premises and I own a couple of them.
The Infinite Blacktop by Sara Blacktop - This is the third Claire deWitt mystery. I didn't even know it existed. I love the Claire deWitt books. She is so messed up and snarky.
Payback's a Witch by Lana Harper - This is a story about three witches who all have a grudge against the same guy. They get together to enact revenge for their mistreatment.
The Nineties by Chuck Klosterman - Klosterman is a hit or miss author for me. Sometimes he's too bitter and sarcastic for even my taste. On the other hand, that phone! That was the phone every teenager wanted in their rooms.
The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont - This is a fictionalized version of the events of 1926 when Agathie Christie disappeared for 11 days. Before I read this I want to read a biography to get the facts as we know them. Then I'll start reading the fiction.
Book of Night by Holly Black - Black is a longtime YA author. This is her first adult novel. Most of her YA books are about fairies. I don't think this is, but it is about shadow magic. That's all I know, but I'm willing to try it.
Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel - I will always add every book she writes. This one comes out in April.
South to America: A Journey Below the Mason-Dixon to Understand the Soul of a Nation by Imani Perry - I am guessing what this is about based on the title. The subtitle makes the statement that the South is the "soul of a nation". I disagree, but I'm willing to see what Perry has to say. If this was written by a white person, I would be quick to write it off, but Imani Perry is a black woman. She has a very different relationship with the area, so again, I'm willing to see what she has to say.
Rogues: True Stories of Grifters, Killers, Rebels and Crooks by Patrick Radden Keefe - Does anyone else have the problem where they see a book written by an author they haven't read yet, but want to, so they add each book they put out to the list? This is madness, and yet, here we are.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry - The worst part about reading for an award is how behind I am on reading authors' new books. This comes out in 2022 and I haven't read the 2021 book. Also, the title got me. Of course.
So there's all the books I've added to my to-read list in December pt. 3. See anything interesting?
