Goodreads Update Feb. 2022 Pt. 1
It's only the tenth and I have done some damage to my TBR. I've read a couple of books, yes, but I put well more than a couple on the list. You're welcome for doing this now rather than later.
Freedome! The Story of the Black Panther Party by Jetta Grace Martin, Joshua Bloom, Waldo E. Martin Jr. - I am a woman obsessed. Suddenly, I want to read all the books about the BPP. This one just came out and is for YA readers, which means it will be understandable.
Murder in the Bayou: Who Killed the Women Known as the Jeff Davis 8? by Ethan Brown - Apparently I'm into true crime now? I'm going to posit a theory that I don't really know what I'm into anymore, so I'm just adding books to my TBR willy nilly. I don't know about the Jeff Davis 8, but I'm gonna find out.
Lost Girls: An Unsolved American Mystery by Robert Kolker - The summary for this is really vague, but I'm relatively sure it's about the escort girls who went missing on Long Island. I remember that situation.
The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas - This one has been getting a lot of buzz lately and was on a bunch of best of lists of 2021. Romance is tricky. Everyone looks for different things in a romance. I like a unique plot to get to my happily ever after.
The Guest List by Lucy Foley - This was on my TBR once before, but I must have removed it in a fit of clearing out my list. But now I'm into thrillers or something.
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides - This was on my list once before, too, but I took it off. Now it's back on. I'm a mess.
The Dogs I Have Kissed by Trista Mateer - This is a volume of poetry. I liked the title.
A Thousand Mornings by Mary Oliver - I love Mary Oliver.
Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins - I like The Wife Upstairs. That was a thriller take on Jane Eyre. I don't think this is a retelling of anything. Maybe And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie? It's about a group of girls on an island and people start dying.
Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave - I'm going to be real honest. This is a cover add. It looks a LOT like her first book which was a thriller about a functional family. Talk about a twist. I have no idea what this is about, but I'm okay with that.
Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood - This is the first in a series called the STEMinist series which makes me giggle. This is what is known as a grumpy-sunshine romance where one character is a grump and the other is cheery. So like my Mom and Dad.
The Secret Place by Tana French - I decided to go ahead and commit to the Dublin Murder Squad series. I loved the first two so very much. I stopped because the second one was so good and I couldn't see the third one living up to it. It's been enough years now that I might be able to get on with it.
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow - Witches and women's suffrage. Yes, please.
Broken Harbor by Tana French - Another in the Dublin Murder Squad that I didn't already have on my list.
The Secret Life of Miss Mary Bennet by Kathrine Cowley - Mary Bennet has a lot of room for imagination. I'm interested to see if Ms. Cowley takes her story somewhere interesting.
Give Unto Others by Donna Leon - This year's Commissario Guido Brunetti Mystery. Of course I had to add it.
The Bee and the Fly: The Improbably Correspondence of Louisa May Alcott and Emily Dickinson by Lorraine Tosiello and Jane Cavolina - When I read that subtitle, I was like, "Excuse me. What?" This comes out in May. I will be stalking my library website to put it on hold.
Okay. That's it for now. I'll be back when I have added another ridiculous number of books.
