December 2022 TBR

It is the last TBR of the year! It's been a journey. Last week I told you I was going rogue with my December TBR. There are a few books I need to read to finish up challenges and for reviews, but after that, it's anyone's guess what I'll read. So here we go.

Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May - It seems like the obvious choice to read this in winter. I got this from NetGalley last year, and apparently, it is still open for reviews. I can read a book from my 50 by 50 list AND raise my NetGalley review score in one swell foop.

Loveless by Alice Oseman - This is the book I traded for A Snake Falls to Earth to read for the challenge Read a Book with an Asexual or Aromantic main character. The whole story is about a girl who thinks something is wrong with her until she goes to college and learns about asexuality.

The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2021 - This one meets the Read Harder challenge to read a "Best of _________ " Anthology. I might read a story at a time and spread it out over the month. I'm not sure how many there are. I'll look into that.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon - I still haven't read this and the second book in the series comes out at the end of February. I could put it off until January, but I have other NetGalley books I need to read then. I'll try and take care of it now.

The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles - This is another one that I got from NetGalley and I can still put in a review. I have two copies of this one. Unlike most of my other double copies of books, I didn't buy either of these books. One was a gift from my hubby and I won the other in a raffle. December is a good time to knock out some of those old NetGalley books so I can raise my ratings and get approved for more books. Not that I have room for more books. If I get approved for too many, I can't read the books I actually own.

Song of Silver, Flame Like Night by Amelie Wen Zhao - Zhao put out a trilogy in the last couple of years that made a splash. I didn't read it. Now this is coming out in January. Its date is early January, so I put it on my December list because I feel like it's pretty long. 512 pages, to be exact. The beautiful cover didn't hurt anything either.

It's a pretty fantasy heavy month. One non-fiction, one contemporary, one historical fiction, 2 long fantasy novels, and a sci-fi/fantasy anthology. That's six books. Most likely I will read more than that, but December is a busy month. We'll see what happens.
