Feb 2023 Goodreads Update
Hello! We are fast approaching the end of February, so it's time to look at what I have added to my to-read list. Some of these you will have seen in previous posts. Some will be a surprise. Away we go!
The Librarianist by Patrick DeWitt - I've read the summary for this book, and I still have no idea what it's about, but there is a retired librarian with a past? Whatever. I've read two other DeWitt novels and had a good time, especially with The Sisters Brothers.
Maame by Jessica George - This is about a young woman in England who takes care of her invalid father. When her mother returns from Ghana, she finally has a chance to live her own life.
The Windsor Knot by S. J. Bennett - I bought this at the new local bookstore, but I didn't have it on my TBR. I obviously had to rectify that immediately.
Born in Blackness by Howard W. French - I'm still not committed to reading this, but I've added it just in case.
No Good Men Among the Living by Anand Gopal - This is one I got for my work reading.
The Golden Peninsula by Charles F. Keyes - Another work book.
News of a Kidnapping by Gabriel Garcia Marquez - This one gives me Bel Canto vibes, but it's probably very much not like that book.
The Davenports by Krystal Marquis - This is a YA historical fiction book about a wealthy black family in the early 20th century. It's got class distinctions but there isn't any racial issues. It's just black people living their lives. We need more of that.
Black Wolf by Kathleen Kent - I love Kathleen Kent's writing. 'Nuff said.
A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting by Sophie Irwin - Kitty needs a rich husband. So she goes to London to enter the Season. Lord Radcliffe sees what she truly is and decides to ruin her plans. So obviously they fall in love. It's a romance set in Regency England.
The Fine Print by Lauren Asher - This is a contemporary romance about a billionaire and an engineer(?). It sounds like a hate-to-love romance or somewhat. I really just like the cover. We'll see if it's any good.
And that's all! Anything look interesting?
