Animals!
Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is Animals on the Cover. Yay for animals! I am particularly animal starved this week. My ancient kitty died last week and my doggies are at boarding because they can't behave themselves when we have guests. We have a guest in the house this week, so they are relegated to a week-long stay at the doggie hotel.
To find books with animals on the cover, I just opened up my Goodreads Want-To-Read list and started scrolling. These are the first 10 covers that turned up with non-human animals on them.
To Fetch a Thief by Spencer Quinn - This whole series has a dog on the cover, but this one also has an elephant. That will be the most interesting animal on this list.
The Oregan Trail by Rinker Buck - I almost didn't use this one because we all know what happened to the animals on that trip.
Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero - I'm not sure that those are octopus tentacles in the water. It might be something more sinister. I was really thinking about the silhouette of the dog up near the top.
Two Good Dogs by Susan Wilson - Those do look like good dogs. Very good dogs. My sister sent me this book with the assurances that the dogs live. I hate reading books with dogs on the cover like this, because the dog always dies. No thank you.
Boom Town by Sam Anderson - There are a couple of horses on this one.
The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan - This is epic fantasy, but I think those are actual horses there.
Tunnel of Bones by Victoria Schwab - I must be reading the wrong kinds of books because in 26 pages of books, I only found one cat on the cover. That's 520 books.
Wow, No Thank You by Samantha Irby - I really like this one. I do not ever want to own a bunny, but I think they are so stinking cute!
The Compton Cowboys by Walter Thompson-Hernandez - Why is there a proliferation of horses on the covers of my books? Like, yeah, I like horses, but I don't necessarily want to read about them. Also, I think the horses are not integral to the tale, except for maybe this one.
The Witches of New York by Ami McKay - And after 520 covers, we have our first bird. It's a good bird pic, too. And if you look very closely there are some more of the apparently ubiquitous horses at the bottom.
What books have animals on the cover that you like?
