Friday Reads 4/21/23
Well, here we are. Friday. What a week. Yesterday I said I was conflicted about what to read next. Here's how that played out.
I started out be reading a chaapter of each book I was already reading and see what happens. I read a chapter of one book, and then switched to this one.
Camp Austen: My Life as an Accidental Jane Austen Superfan by Ted Scheinman - I'm almost finished with this one. When I finished the first chapter, I was a third of the way through the book. It only has 160 pages. So I just kept reading. I will finish this one up today.
Perestroika in Paris by Jane Smiley - This is the other book I started yesterday. I'm about half way through? It's not as fast a read because the book itself is hard to hold. We'll see when this one gets finished.
The Nineties by Chuck Klosterman - I decided that one of the things that made my last book so engaging was the nostalgia factor. Also, this is another nonfiction. I still am feeling the pull of nonfiction right now. I turned 18 right at the beginning of the nineties, but I still have lots of memories of pop culture in that decade. I didn't start having babies and losing touch with reality until the 2000s.
These choices will at least get me through the weekend, I think. After that, maybe a nice mystery? I need to read another thing from my 50 by 50 list. And I haven't read any Sequoyah books yet. It's really anyone's guess what I will do.
