Friday Reads 7/28/2023

Here we are again at Friday. Here's what's going on in my book stack.

The Mothers by Brit Bennett - I am 2/3 through this one. I had hoped it would be as awesome as The Vanishing Half. I don't love the story as much, but the writing is equally as gorgeous. After a woman commits suicide her husband gets rid of her car and the Greek Chorus of a narrator wonders if various cars going by have parts from the dead woman's car. What an interesting thought. Anyway, I'm enjoying it a lot.

Happy Place by Emily Henry - This one is fun, but I'm kind of putting it on the back burner because it's not really on my TBR. It's on my Kindle, so I read it when it's slow at work. It's about a couple who were engaged, but didn't tell their friends when they broke up. Now they're at a week long vacation that will end with the wedding of two friends and they don't want to ruin the week by telling them now. I'm not flipping pages like crazy and can't put it down. I enjoy it while I'm reading it.

Love Radio by Ebony LaDelle - I'm hoping to finish The Mothers tomorrow and then blaze through this one Sunday and Monday. It's YA romance, so it should move pretty quickly. It's a Sequoyah book and it's shorter than the other Sequoyah book on my TBR.

August starts on Tuesday, so I will be jumping into that TBR.

Smoke by Dan Vyleta - I will go ahead and start with the biggest one to get it out of the way. Or maybe I'll read some of this and some of a shorter book at the same time. Either way, I'll get this one underway in the next week.

So there are my tentative reading plans for the next week.

Happy reading!
