August '23 Library Update

We are beginning our descent towards the end of August. Please remain in your seats with your seatbelts fastened and your tray tables secured. The captain will turn off the seatbelt light when it is safe to move into September.

Okay, today has been weird. I'm in a mood, as evidenced by paragraph one of this post. Nevertheless, this is an update on what is happening in my library account. Things have definitely changed since last month. Most notably, I have removed all Sequoyah books from my list. I don't care. It doesn't matter if I read every single one. I haven't been terribly impressed with this crop. So, I am prioritizing my mental health and scrapping that project. Bye Felicia!

So here we go!

CHECKED OUT

The Road to Roswell by Connie Willis - I started this the other day. I've read 50 pages. It's ridiculous. Francie is in Roswell to talk her best friend out of marrying a UFO nut when she gets abducted by a UFO who looks like a tumbleweed. It promises to be a ride.

Grave Reservations by Cherie Priest - I don't remember what prompted me to request this, but it's here. I clearly am in need of light and fluffy reads. This is about a psychic travel agent who advises a police detective to change flights and then the first flight crashes. He involves her in solving an old murder case using her clairvoyant talents.

Thunder & Lightning: Weather Past, Present, and Future by Lauren Redniss - I have been waiting on this one for a couple of months. I eventually requested it from out of state and it came in before the one here in town. It has a lot of pictures, so maybe it won't take too long to read.

ON HOLD

On a Sunbeam by Tilly Walden - I may have to request this one from out of state, also. Once I finally get it, it will take less than 2 hours to read, but the person who has it has cabbaged onto it for more than 2 months. Oy!

Witch Hat Atelier, Vol. 1 by Kamome Shirahama - I am first on the list for this manga novel, and we have five circulating copies, but only two of them are not overdue. They aren't terribly late, but late nonetheless. I heard about this on BookTube, and decided to check it out. It looks cute.

Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett - I'm not the only one who heard good things about this. I am number 11 on the hold list. We only have 5 copies. One is overdue, but only since last month. Here's crossing my fingers! I might get it by November.

One of Us Is Back by Karen M. McManus - I am super stoked for this book. I would just go buy a copy, but it's only in hardcover right now and I prefer paper. So I wait. I am number 25 on the list and we've only got 12 copies. The stress! I wonder how long I'll last.

Dirty Thirty by Janet Evanovich - As per usual, this one will be on the list for awhile. I'm number 91 on the holds list and there will be 24 copies. It publishes on Halloween, so I might get it by Christmas. We'll see.

So there it is. Everything on my library account. Nary a Sequoyah book in sight. Sure there are a few YA books, but there are all books I actually want to read. What a novel idea!

Do you have any library books out?
