Friday Reads 2/21/2025
Helllllooooo! Sorry I've been MIA this week. I had a 4-day weekend, on accident. Thank you snow and ice. Of course when I got back to work, it was pretty busy. Enough excuses. I'm here to talk about what I'm reading right now, so let's get to it.
Watching the English by Kate Fox - I forgot to bring this home last weekend, so it sat at work unread for 4 days. Oh well. I'm currently 25% through this. I enjoy reading about the unwritten rules and cultural customs that make the English so English.
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson - I'm 40% of the way through this one already. I say "already" because this thing has 669 pages. I started it once before, but I couldn't really remember what happened, so I started over. I think I might be just about caught up with where I left off before. I didn't remember it being this far in, but we just got to the part I remember being the last of what I read. Unless there is another similar scene. Anyway, we are following Vin, a common street urchin, who catches the eye of a guy who takes her under his wing to teach her to use her powers. She's Mistborn, meaning that she can use all the metals to fuel various powers, as opposed to Mistings who can only use one and only have one power. He and his crowd are planning to overthrow the Lord Ruler and the Final Empire and he is bringing her along to help out.
I'm not really getting a lot of my books read in this category, but I'm not letting that keep me from reading the long books I've been wanting to get to. Yay me?
We are pretty close to the end of the month, so I don't know if I will start another fantasy book before we go into March. I'll have to play it by ear.
