April 2025 TBR

Here we are. It is time for the April TBR. How exciting!

Eligible: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Curtis Sittenfeld - I finished the Jane Austen book I was reading, so I'm going to start this one while we're still in March, because March was my month to read from my Jane Austen shelf. It is on my list of 10 oldest books on my TBR. I hope this is good. Retellings of P&P can go either way.

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst - This actually came in today at the library! I didn't think it would be here on a Saturday, but it was sitting on the staff cart waiting for me when I came in. This will eventually be my lunchtime read.

The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science by Kate McKinnon - I intend to start this one at lunch on Tuesday and finish it as quickly as possible.

My Shelf of the Month for April is Historical Fiction. I went through all my Historical Fiction books and picked out a few. I will not, of course, be able to get through all the ones I choose, but they are some options.

Belgravia by Julian Fellowes - This is the oldest book on my Historical Fiction shelf, but not old enough to make my 10 oldest books list. I started this several years ago and had to put it down for whatever reason. It might be time to try it again.

The Address by Fiona Davis - I have a bunch of Fiona Davis books on my list, it might be a good idea to read one of them. This is about The Dakota, which I read a nonfiction book about last year.

The Girls in the Picture by Melanie Benjamin - It's been a hot minute since I read a Melanie Benjamin book. This is the one I have on my shelf. This is about the friendship of Frances Marion and Mary Pickford in the early days of Hollywood.

The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell - I read Hamnet a couple of years ago. It is time to get back to Maggie O'Farrell. I've been saving this one long enough.

Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel - I want to read this before I forget what happened in Wolf Hall. Luckily this has fewer pages.

A Rogue of One's Own by Evie Dunmore - This is a light, quick, romance series set in the early 20th century. These are super fun and read fast.

That's nine books which is way more than I usually can squeeze into a month, so I think I'll stop there. Does anything look interesting to you? What are you planning for April?
