Reading In and Out 4/15/2025
Oh yeah. It's tax day. We paid our titanic-sized tax bill yesterday. Ew. My coworker just told me her husband asked for her DL number so he could file their taxes. Whoo boy!
On a lighter note, I finished a book!
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst - This book gave me distinct Emily Wilde vibes in that the main character is a bit clueless socially. But in this one, she begins to acknowledge the importance of community. Until about the 45% mark it was just a cute story and had winged cats. At 45% it got interesting. Then the antagonist showed up. It read pretty durn quickly after that.
The Kennedy Girl by Julia Bryan Thomas - I picked this up after I finished The Spellshop. Firstly, imagine my delight when I opened this 400+ page book to find wide margins and double-spaced print. Oh hell yes. More of this, Sourcebooks! Then I started reading. I have mentioned that I personally know the author. I practically grew up knowing the author. When I tell you there is a dead body on the first page, you can imagine my surprise. Then I remembered that said author has also written two mystery/thrillers with murder, so it's not that surprising, but I thought I was getting a nice historical novel about a girl going to Paris to be a model. I am intrigued.
So there is this week's in and out.
Happy reading!
