Friday Reads 7/25/2025
I'm sorry I was MIA last week. I was on vacation and I didn't know it was Friday! What a time to be alive.
Anyway, now that I'm home from vacation, I am back to reading the books I started before I went. There is one new book I started on vacation, but mostly it's the same-old same-old.
The Country of Ice Cream Star by Sandra Newman - I'm still 25% of the way into this. It's still slow moving and hard to read. It's slow moving because it's hard to read.
The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan - The 10% I've read of this was really entertaining. Better than I expected, actually. The main character is pretty down-to-earth and engaging. She has alluded to a huge mistake that she is about to be held accountable for the night before her wedding, so we'll see if that is a deal-breaker for me.
Jane Austen: Women, Politics, and the Novel by Claudia L. Johnson - I started this on my vacation. I'm going very slowly and taking notes. I am putting in tabs and adding marginalia. I have got through two chapters. It's not a long book, but I think I'll be in this one for awhile.
Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint by singNsong - You'll have to trust me that's what the title is. This is a Korean graphic novel. It was waiting for me when I got back after vacation. I plan to start this tonight or tomorrow. My kid was surprised I picked it up, but they said they heard it was good. We'll see what happens.
So there we are. That's a lot of books on the list. Luckily, they are all very different and I can just read what I feel like when I have reading time.
What are you focusing on now?
