In the Fables series of graphic novels, all of the fairy tale characters have been ousted by The Adversary from their ancestral lands. They are forced to live in the human world The characters who can pass for human can live in New York City, but the talking animals have to live on a giant farm in upstate New York.

In this volume, Snow White (the NYC Fabletown manager) and her sister Rose Red take a trip to The Farm to check on the state of things. When they get there, they interrupt a town meeting of revolutionaries who want to take back the ancestral lands. Then, stuff gets real. Ever read Animal Farm by George Orwell? Yeah, it's like that.

The first volume had some sexy times in it because Prince Charming is a player. This one didn't have that, but it did have some gory bits. And because this is a graphic novel, the gore is depicted in full color. On the other hand, the pictures were really great, and I giggled a few times at some of the picture-jokes.

I am not a connoisseur of graphic novels, but I know what I like. I like clear drawings and a good plot. This had both of those things, even when maybe I wouldn't have wanted the clear drawings so much. Blech! Also, you can't beat a format you can finish in an hour.
