Friday Reads (on Saturday) 7/26/14

This has been a ridiculous week, so I missed my Friday reads day! But here it is on Saturday.

mistborn

Mistborn: Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

This book is high fantasy with over 600 pages, so you will probably see this on my list for awhile. I'm about 85 pages in, so I'm still working things out, but I do really like it.

American Heiress

The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin

This one is about the phenomenon in the late 19th/early 20th centuries in which insanely wealthy American girls went to England to marry broke British lords. The lords got an infusion of cash to rescue their estates and the girls got the one thing they didn't have: a title. Cora is the American heiress in question and she falls in love with a duke, but does he really love her? Too late, they're married.

Hot six

Hot Six by Daisy Evanovich

I'm listening to this on audio in my car, so it takes an age to get through one. These books are light and fluffy and funny, so I can concentrate on driving without missing too much.

Last Kind Words

The Last Kind Words Saloon by Larry McMurtry

I actually checked this out for my husband, Mike, but it looked interesting, so I started reading it. It's about Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday before the OK Corral. I'm really liking it. It's a fast read and it's full of dialogue. And can we just take a moment to look at that cover? Perfect for mid-summer when it's 100 degrees out (no joke) and I have no air conditioning
