Top Ten Tuesday 9/29/15

Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is "If you liked this...then read this".

I've kind of been stressing about this topic. I'm going to take the easy way out. Don't expect any flashes of genius in this post. And probably there won't be ten. That said, let's do this!

If you liked

Jane Eyre

then try the books on this list!

  1. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte - First I'll go with the obvious. The books share the theme of the creepy house with supernatural shenanigans.

  2. Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier - Another obvious one. I feel like they have the same feel. Also, creepy house.

  3. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield - One of the things I love about this book is the tone it shares with Jane Eyre.

  4. Jenna Starborn by Sharon Shinn - This is a retelling of Jane Eyre set in space.

  5. The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesay - This is a retelling of Jane Eyre set in 1950's Scotland.

  6. The House at Riverton by Kate Morton - Another creepy house book, but set in the 1960's? Maybe 70's? I forget.

  7. Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys - This is sort of a prequel to Jane Eyre. It tells the story of Bertha Mason Rochester.

  8. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde - The characters in books are actual people and there is a branch of the British special forces designed to protect them. The inside literary jokes are fabulous and make you feel so smart when you get them.

  9. I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith - Another house book, but with a different feel. Still really entertaining, though.

  10. Jane Slayre by Sherri Browning Erwin - If you're into vampire retellings, I really liked this one. I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads.

Hey! I found 10! Go figure.

Got any to add?
