Readathon Wrap-Up

I know you're all dying to know how I did with the Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon. So here's a revue.

I said I was going to start with Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenga by Becky Albertalli, but I finished that one Friday, so no need.

So you know how I had that big list of possibilities for reading? Yeah. I started with a book that was not even on that list. I started with Jane and the Waterloo Map by Stephanie Barron. Apparently, I completely forgot about that one when I made my list. Duh!

Anyway, I woke up at around 10:30. I got dressed and ate breakfast and saw the hubby and the son off to a coffee shop outing. I started reading right about 11:00. The hubby came home a few hours later with a cheeseburger for my lunch. Yum! So I took a break. That makes it sound like I read for 3 straight hours. This is not so. I fell asleep for awhile. Hazard of the 'thon.

After lunch, I started in again. I took another nap. I finished the book around 6:30 and ordered dinner. Pizza! Before the pizza came I started Eden West by Pete Hautman. I finished it at about 1:30 that night.

So I read a total of 2 books. Page count: 640. Total hours read: 11. Naps: 2. Snacks consumed: Fruit Snacks, Wint-o-green mints, Coca-cola, apple slices with peanut butter. Plus cheeseburger and fries and pizza.

When I got up off the couch to go eat my lunch, I got the most ridiculous cramp in my inner thigh. Like 10 minutes worth of cramp. It was insane. This just goes to show that I need to add stretching to my list of tips for readathon success.

So there it is. I call it a success. I met my goal of reading for 8 hours. Also, the dogs were pretty well behaved and let me read on the couch all day long. And also nap. Good doggies!
