Books Set Outside the U.S.

Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is Books Set Outside the United States. I feel like this one will be pretty easy for me. A lot of what I read is set in other coutries, especially England.

  1. The Rabbit Back Literature Society by Pasi Imari Jaaskelainen - Let's just get this one out of the way early, since you knew you were going to see it here. This one takes place in Finland.

  2. Burial Rites by Hannah Kent - Continuing in the vein of Scandinavian books, I have to have this one on this list. It is about the last execution in Iceland.

  3. The Commissario Brunetti Series by Donna Leon - Moving a little East and South, we have this mesmerizing series set in Venice, Italy.

  4. Under the Udala Trees by Chinelo Okparanta - Set in Africa, this book tells the tale of a lesbian woman in a traditional town.

  5. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan - Even further East is this hilarious tale of rich people problems set in Singapore.

  6. Facing the Wave by Gretel Ehrlich - This non-fiction book is set in Japan.

  7. The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman - I love this book set in Australia more and more as time goes on.

  8. Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood - Moving on to Canada, we have this moving, fabulous book about another woman tried for murder.

  9. The Jane Austen Mysteries by Stephanie Barron - And no one is surprised to see this series here. It is set in England (obviously).

  10. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff - This fantastic, piece of perfection is set in space.

I had some trouble narrowing it down to just 10, but there you go.
