Summer Lovin' Book Tag

Here is another entertaining book tag. It is called Summer Lovin' and even though I definitely do NOT love summer, I decided to do this thing here.

Start of Summer - Pick a book with an attention grabbing first sentence. - Let's go with I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith. The first sentence is: "I write this sitting in the kitchen sink." Don't you want to read the rest of this now?

Too Hot to Go Out - Pick a book for a day in. - I recommend American Housewife: Stories by Helen Ellis. I feel like it would be a good idea to go with short stories. That way you could read a story, go drink a glass of water, read another story, lay under a fan for awhile, etc. These stories are light and funny and weird, which make them perfectly suited for days where it is too hot to move.

Summer Road Trip - Pick a book you'd want to take on the road. - How about a book that will keep your attention so you won't even notice how long you've been in the car? Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs fits that bill.

Iced Tea Goodness - Pick a book with a cold setting - Wait for it... Wait for it... You know this is coming... Rabbit Back Literature Society by Pasi Ilmari Jaaskelainen. Yes. There is snow and everything.

Nasty Sunburn - Pick a book you really didn't like this year - That's probably going to have to go to Beulah Land by Lonnie Coleman. Don't hate me friend-who-begged-me-to-read-it.

Sizzling Read - Recommend one of your favorite books - So many! I'm going to go with Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. This book is so funny. Even though it's about her life through which she's struggled with various mental health issues and a father who does taxidermy at home, she makes it hilarious to read. Also, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook; specifically the outtakes at the end of the book. I almost peed.

So that's it. I could almost get behind this whole summer thing if books are involved. What would you pick?
