Book Betrayal
Today's Top Five Wednesday topic is Books I Felt Betrayed By. I am defining this as books that didn't end like I thought they should, or books that just weren't what I was expecting.
-
House of Mirth by Edith Wharton - Having just read all of Jane Austen's works, I thought I would be getting some more of that with Edith Wharton. Imagine my surprise when I reached the end! Not like Jane Austen at all!
-
Me Before You by JoJo Moyes - Here's another one that didn't end the way I thought it should. I'm not going to give it away, but however it ends. That's not how I wanted it to end.
-
Someday Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham - I have a lot of love for Lauren Graham as an actress, but this book was terrible. It was basically a memoir about her time trying to break out in acting in New York. I didn't like her main character, and I didn't care if she ever "made it" in acting. Blah.
-
Sisterland by Curtis Sittenfeld - Sittenfeld's first book was awesome. This was her third book. I should have known when I couldn't get through her second book that I should not even bother, but I did. This is a book about identical twins with weird abilities. So overdone.
-
Sex Drugs Ratt and Roll by Stephen Pearcy - I had a major teenage crush on Stephen Pearcy in high school. He was the lead singer of one of my favorite hair metal bands. This book was so whiny. I was sad that only one of us is a grown up now.
So there are five books I felt betrayed by. Got any to add?
