Clearly, I Have Too Much Time on My Hands

I was looking at the stacks and shelves and more stacks of books I have waiting for me to read. And I thought to myself, "Self, there ought to be a way we can get these things read. I mean, you are reading about 4 books a month. Surely, we can find a way to get these on the list."

Then I thought, "List. Hmmm. List. Sounds familiar. Well what if I just made a list every month of the books I plan to read in that month?" !!!!! "Duh! I already do that every month! It's my TBR!"

So I have made a plan to streamline my TBR and include some of these books I just really want to read. I shouldn't have to wait for my degree to be done. I can fit them in little by little right now! So here's the plan:

Each monthly TBR will include the following:

  1. That month's book club book. - This is still number one reading priority.

  2. One book from the front of my Goodreads TBR - The first couple of pages of my to-read shelf on Goodreads is full of books I already own, but haven't read yet. And since Goodreads orders them by date they were added, these books have been hanging around the longest.

  3. One book from the piles of unread books in the living room - I have two shelves in the library full of unread books. Well, those shelves are now full to bursting, so I've had to resort to the bottom shelf of my coffee tables in the living room. One of those is full up and I've started on a second one. I only have two, so I better work on those piles as well.

  4. One book from the Sequoyah Award list - As part of my job, I should be reading these, so I better get serious about picking them up. It looks like a great list, really.

If I have any library books that show up, I can sneak those in around these books. And I will always and forever be reading NeuroTribes.

It's a little too late for June's TBR, but it almost fits the mold. The Invisible Library is my book club book. Still Life is from my back list Goodreads TBR (kind of). I've only had it for a year and a half, but it kind of fits. And As If! is from my living room piles. That fourth book, Readicide is also from my living room book shelf, but I don't have a Sequoyah book this month. Maybe I'll find one around the library to take on vacation.

So that's my plan. What do you think?
