Update 7/18/18

I'm still alive.

My first 8 hour day at my internship was last Thursday. I didn't do very much, but I had a great time. The director told me they had had previous interns that didn't work out very well, but her boss told her she had to. I know her boss. That probably helped. Anyway, she said they invited me to that first staff meeting back in May to introduce myself to the staff and they all liked me immediately and felt like, this time, having an intern would work out. It helps that my internship is required for all MLIS students at my school. The previous interns had to intern because they failed their comps. The school didn't really have any idea what they wanted them to learn, so they had no structure or purpose. Syracuse has given them some guidelines and they are pleased with that.

The instructional librarian or design librarian or whatever she is, Suzanne, really likes me. We went to lunch together on Thursday to a place she likes. It was lovely. We talked about our dogs for about ever. It was great.

We have had some chaos at our house because of course. The roof leaked through the HVAC system for the addition to the house. We have huge puddles all around because it has rained a couple of times a day for the last 5 days. If this was Santa Fe, it would be monsoon season. But no, it's still 100 degrees outside. Gross. The roofer came and caulked some things, so hopefully that's over.

I took Harley to the vet today because he had a spot on his side. We weren't sure if it was a scab or a growth or what. We do know that Maggie likes to lick it. It turns out it was just a wound that is healing. They suggested we put a shirt on Harley to keep her out of it. Hahahaha! I can't wait to see what that looks like! Harley in a shirt! When I get pics I will post them.

I worked my regular job from 8-5 Monday and Tuesday then went to my internship from 6-8 both days. Today I didn't have to be anywhere until 11:00 this morning. I slept for 12 hours. It was lovely.

Tomorrow, I'm going to work at the community college the whole day. I'm looking forward to it! This library uses the Library of Congress Classification system instead of Dewey, so I took some time to peruse the circulating collection and get used to how it's organized. I found many books I would like to take home. Of course.

Friday I have an epic dental cleaning that is supposed to take two hours. Ugh! But I took the whole day off to recover before book club that night.

I feel like that is a pretty solid update on what's happening right now. Lucky you.
