Friday Reads 5/10/19

I am just barely getting this in on Friday! It's 11:00 p.m. and I am in a hotel room in Hays, Kansas, listening to Jake Brakes on semis and the air conditioner in our room. I'm also hearing my son snore a little bit which is absolutely fantastic! I haven't seen him in over a month. He's even more beautiful than I remember.

Enough mom gushing. You're here for the books. I didn't get as much read on this trip as I had hoped. So here's what I'm looking at for the rest of the weekend, which will not end until Monday because I had the good sense to take off an extra day to recover.

Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan - I only have about 80 pages left and it is really, really good. Lots of political machinations and magic and a girl finding herself apart from the magic of her gods.

If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin - I have one week to read this. Good thing it's short!

That'll just about do it for this weekend. We are hoping to get home by 7:00 tomorrow night, but that depends on the roads that were flooded out on our way here. I hear those roads are still closed, so we have to find an alternate route.

Also, my dancers dance in church on Sunday, AND it's Mother's Day. I won't get to collapse until later.
