2020 Reading Goals

Oh heck! 2020 starts in 2 days! It's time to get on the ball and set up my reading goals for the year!

  1. Read 140 books - In 2019 I set this goal at 100 books and blew past it in September. Right now, I'm at 137 books, so I think this is an achievable goal. I figure my goals will be high like this as long as I'm reading for an award. I call it high. I know of people who read upwards of 200 books in a year, but they don't sleep.

  2. Complete the PopSugar Reading Challenge - For the last two or three years, I have done the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge. I've decided to mix it up a bit this year and do something different. This challenge has more individual challenges, but they are easier to find books for. I'm kind of cutting myself a break, since I'm doing so much reading for the award.

  3. Read 12 books that I already own - I did pretty well with this in 2019, even though I only thought of the challenge in July. So I figured I'd add it to this year's goals. The books have to be ones that I owned on my shelves (or Kindle) before January 1, 2020.

  4. Log books in my Reading Journal - I have kept a reading journal since 1987. This year, I fell off the wagon. In the spring, I would only write the title and date read, but not write any thoughts on the book. By July, I quit even opening the book. I was reading books so quickly, that I just couldn't keep up with entering them. I did a catch-up where I just listed the books I've finished and the date. I'm almost finished with this journal, so on Jan 1 I'll start a new journal and make a new go of writing thoughts in it.

Do you have any goals for reading in 2020?
