2019 Wrap Up

who boy. This might get complicated. Hang on to your hats!

I read 137 books in 2019. I haven't read this much since 2013 when I read 148 books. 2013 is also the year I went to work full time, which explains a lot about the sharp drop off in books completed after that. But also adds to the achievement of this year, since I am still working full time AND read 137 books. I put all the books into a spreadsheet, but the number turns up to be 136. I don't know what's going on.

Books by Men: 36
Books by Women: 99
Books by Multiple Authors both Male and Female: 1
Diverse Authors: 50 (authors of color as well as lgbtqa authors)

Books for Award Reading: 62 (I feel like this should have been a bigger number)

Adult Books: 52
YA Books: 73
Middle Grade Books: 3
Children's Books: 8

Fiction: 51
Romance: 12
Mystery: 11
Fantasy: 32
Sci-fi: 11
Graphic Novels: 13
Non-Fiction: 33
Memoirs: 9
Biography: 3
History: 5
Poetry: 2
These numbers don't add up because some books ended up in two categories. A Historical Mystery will be marked both historical fiction and mystery.

Five Star Books: 19 - I'm not sure if I have high standards or just read crappy books.

Print Books: 129
Audiobooks: 5
Ebook: 1

Rereads: 5

I had 3 reading goals for 2019.

  1. Read 100 books - Check
  2. Complete the Read Harder Challenge - So close. I was a quarter of the way through the last book, when I just didn't care anymore.
  3. Re-read 5 books - Check
