Non-Bookish Hobbies

Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is Non-Bookish Hobbies. Now, I know for a fact I don't have 10 non-bookish hobbies. I even thought about trying to be funny and including things like "working" but I am a librarian. Even work is bookish. Let's see what we can come up with.

Planning - The most obvious first one is planning. It's the thing I make sure I make time for every week. I look at my planner every day. I love to check things off. This makes having a planner feel productive. I love to play with stickers and make my planner pretty.

Dance - I don't do much of this lately. Sigh. But I've taught dance to high school girls at my church for 17 years. I love chreography and teaching and hanging out with teenage girls. I know. I'm weird.

English Handbells - I am doing more of this than I expected at this point in 2020. About once a month, I go to the church and video myself playing my bells along with a video of our director leading and a sound recording of the song. All the other players do the same. Then the director pieces the videos together to have a video of us playing the song to share during a church service. It's a really cool process. And I still get to play.

Dog Cuddling - Luckily I have two dogs that I can cuddle. I try to spend at least a few minutes each day doing this.

Knitting/Crochet - Okay, I haven't actually done any of this in years. But I like it. I lost the time to do it when I started grad school. Then I immediately started the award committee. Still no time. In 15 months, I might have time to pick up my yarn again.

Piano - I occasionally sit down and pound on the keys. I'm not very good. I rely on sight reading. I don't play often enough to get good. It's fine. I wear headphones most of the time because I don't want to irritate my family's eardrums with my constant mistakes.

Cross-Stitch - I have not done this one either for a very long time. I love it, but it can get expensive. I still have tons of thread. I recently saw a book of bookish cross-stitch patterns and drooled a little bit. Again, I won't have time for this sort of hobby until February 2022 when my award committee commitment ends.

That's seven. I realize I kind of cheated by including things I don't actually do right now. Also dog cuddling is questionable. What are your hobbies?
