April 2021 TBR

I have made an executive decision. I have decided to only do my TBR game for 4 books. I have one book I need to read for work. Another book I promised a dancer I'd read. And another book I have out from the library that I would really like to read before I return it. Plus all the award nomination books I need to read. So here we go.

Here's what the board looked like before I started.

And I drew a new Bomb Book:

The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan - This is a massive first book in a massive series. I do want to read it, but maybe not right now.

Draw 1:

Anonymously Published book. Well, I looked up titles of books that were published anonymously and, unsurprisingly, they tend to all be political books. No thanks. So, I decided to get a book I know for a fact was published anonymously at first.

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. I really wanted to read Persuasion, but since that was published posthumously, that one actually had her real name on it at publication.

Draw 2:

King: Least Anticipated Jar.

Jane Austen's Names by Margaret Doody - I read almost a third of this several years ago. It's a slog. This is why it's in the Least Anticipated Jar.

Sequoyah Jar: We just started a new Sequoyah year and I haven't put any books in my Sequoyah jar yet, so I just picked one off my shelf.

**The Castle School (for Troubled Girls) by Alyssa Sheinmel - I am really hoping this is a nice, dark academia book.

Draw 4:

Five of Diamonds:

Intimidating Book.

Hell in the Heartland by Jax Miller - This is intimidating because it is close to home. This murder took place just up the road from my hometown.

Here is the final stack all in one place.

Wow. None of those books is small. I'm glad I only did 4 draws this time.

What We Talk About When We Talk About Books by Leah Price - This has been hanging out next to my couch for weeks. Time to finish it and turn it in.

Crazy Brave by Joy Harjo - Our national poet laureate is a native of Oklahoma. We are reading this for our work book club for which I am a facilitator. Our first meeting for this is in April.

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli - I promised one of my dancers I would hurry up and read this series. She's almost finished with the second book. I started in 2019 but will probably have to start over to remember what's happening.

That's 7 books, but I won't be reading all of Crazy Brave this month. I still have about 15 books checked out to me for award reading. I hope I can keep reading an hour a day.
