Friday Reads 7/23/21
If you read yesterday's post, you know that I haven't actually done much reading this week. Oops! Book club is tonight, but I am not even half way through the book. It's ok. I've read it before, but still. So this week's TBR may be... ambitious.
The Premonition by Michael Lewis - This one makes me look smart, but its kind of depressing how many people were ready for this pandemic and knew how to fight it and were ignored by the people in power. My print copy of this one will be in next week.
One of the Good Ones by Maika and Maritza Moulite - I'm listening to this one on audio and I'm about 65% through. I didn't listen most of this week. It's just so hard to listen to. It's about a girl who dies after being arrested at a protest and her two sisters and two friends taking a cross-country road trip in her honor. It's just... hard.
You Have a Match by Emma Lord - This has been sitting next to my couch for a week, waiting for me to pick it up. I didn't. Before that it was sitting on my bookshelf since February. I feel like that's going to be a basic YA romance. Boring, but also a quick read. It would very much help me get my numbers up. If I read this I can reward myself with something I'm excited about?
List of Ten by Halli Gomez - I'm not sure this is a book I'm excited about. But it's a book. It's about a kid with Tourette's and OCD. I am interested in mental illness, so that's a thing. It's pretty short. Meh.
Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler - This promises to be another YA romance. At least this one is maybe LGBTQ+. I think the main character is questioning her identity. So that's a thing.
Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart - My ebook hold of this one might come in from the library next week, so I'll add it to my TBR. Jamaican inspired witches.
Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon - I hope that by the time I finish One of the Good Ones, I will have this audiobook in from the library. We only have two copies, so that might be a pipe dream. But can we say, Hello beautiful cover!
The Iron Raven by Julie Kagawa - I've got this on hold again. I'm going to give it another go. I enjoyed what I read, but I had too many books!
Switch by A. S. King - This will probably come in next week, too. I like A. S. King. She's very weird, but also she writes important books.
Wow. 9 books. If I finish all of these it will be some kind of miracle!
