Friday Reads 11/19/21
So, I happen to have a 4 day weekend this weekend. I had a sleep study last night so I took today off to sleep, since I knew there wouldn't be much sleeping. And my kid has some major dental work to do on Monday, so I took the day off to take them to the dentist. Hence, 4 day weekend with not a lot on my plate! Hopefully I can use some of that time for reading! I haven't yet, but it could happen!
In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner - This is the first book due back to the library and it's a chunker at 400+ pages. I have loved the books by Zentner that I have read. He wrote his first one on the bus back and forth to his office job, and it was awesome, so I hope he's not still commuting like that. Most of his books are set in Appalachia and this is no different. That's about all I remember about the plot and I'm okay with that.
All These Bodies by Kendare Blake - This one isn't due next, but it does have holds on it, so I'll try to read it next. All I remember about this is that it is a horror novel. The last horror book I read by Blake scared me to death. I realize I am a huge chicken, but there it is. I also really liked that book. So here we are. Also this is on my November TBR, so that's cool.
XOXO by Axie Oh - So this is a KPOP romance. Jenny plays cello and meets a boy for a night of adventure in LA. When she gets to Korea to go to an elite arts academy, she finds out that the boy is part of a Kpop group and is super popular and famous. Whatever. I hope it reads fast.
The Power of Style: How Fashion and Beauty Are Being Used to Reclaim Cultures by Christian Allaire - This is randomly a big favorite among my award committee readers. It's short, and I could get it from the library, so I'll give it a whirl. It's not my favorite subject, but we'll see what happens.
This is a really ambitious list for a week of reading. We will see what happens.
