Anticipated Books
Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is the books I'm most looking forward to in the first half of 2022. I am a member of BookRiot Insiders which means I get access to their list of books coming soon. They have a list of the next 5 months worth of books. So I dug through that for books I would like to read. I think all the books I'm really excited about are coming in the second half of 2022, so these books are only interesting to me, not wildly exciting.
Midlife Bites: Anyone Else Falling Apart, Or Is It Just Me? by Jen Mann - Firstly, her name is Jen. The most popular name for girls born in the seventies. Secondly, it talks about making friends as an adult. Thank you, yes. This came out today.
Ain't Burned All the Bright by Jason Reynolds and Jason Griffin - Last month I read another book by this duo. It came out over a decade ago. Imagine my surprise when I saw this on the list. I wonder if the art will be more palatable to me now. This came out today.
Hell's Half-Acre: The Untold Story of the Benders, America's First Serial Killer Family by Susan Jonusas - Kansas, it says. That's uncomfortably nearby. Labette County. Even more uncomfortable as I have a friend from there, and it's just NE over the state line. Perfect for giving myself the willies. This comes out March 1.
Another Appalachia: Coming Up Queer and Indian in a Mountain Place by Neema Avashia - Queer and Indian in Appalachia. I cant even imagine! This comes out March 1.
How to Pet a Cat by Angela Sterling - This looks cute. The cat looks annoyed. "Learn over 20 tips and tricks to be the person your cat wants you to be." This comes out on March 8.
Read Dangerously: The Subversive Power of Literature In Troubled Times by Azar Nafisi - You may recognize this from a recent Goodreads Update. I am fascinated by Nafisi. She has Oklahoma connections, too. This comes out March 8.
Overdue: Reckoning With the Public Library by Amanda Oliver - There are several memoirs from librarians, but this one goes a step further and talks about some of the issues facing libraries today and how we can possibly continue to sustain them. The author was a librarian in Washington D. C. at Northwest One library. This one comes out March 22.
Sense and Second-Degree Murder by Tirzah Price - Last year, I bought Pride and Premeditation by this author. It's a... well, retelling isn't the right word. Elizabeth Bennet is an investigator in her father's detective firm. I'm excited about this one. It comes out April 5
Book Lovers by Emily Henry - I'm actually really excited about this one. I loved her first book and the second one has become a Mashed Potato book for me. This one is about rival publishers or editors or similar. Yes, please. It comes out May 3.
Book of Night by Holly Black - I really enjoyed the last YA series Black published. This is her first foray into adult fiction. I'm interested to see how she handles it. This comes out May 3.
So there are 10 books coming out in the first half of 2022 that I'm interested in. Do any of these strike your fancy? Are you awaiting any coming books with bated breath? Let me know.
