March 2022 TBR
I am loving playing my TBR game now!!! So let's play and find out what I'll read in March!!!
Here is where the board is to begin with. Unfortunately, the picture is really stinking blurry. Sorry about that.
First draw!
Four of Diamonds
Oldest Publishing Date. So the book on my TBR with the oldest date is was published.
Passing by Nella Larsen - This was published in 1929 which beats all the other ones. Also, it meets the Book Riot challenge to read a classic by an author of color. Yay!
And we will replace that prompt with:
The Professor and the Madman by Simon Winchester. This is on my 50 books to read by 50 list.
Draw 2:
4 of Spades
Different Format than Normal
The Missouri Review - Winter 2022 - One of the kids from my church has a short story in this magazine. So I'm counting this as a different format. Also, one of the Book Riot challenges is to read a new-to-you literary magazine. Another yay!
Replace that prompt:
Lowest Rated - Oof. When I get this one, I will read the lowest rated book on my Goodreads TBR.
Draw 3:
Jack of Clubs
Most Interested Jar! Yay! Also, I realize that the jar says Most Anticipated. I'm a flake, what can I say.
I drew Blacktop Wasteland by S. A. Crosby. I definitely do not remember what this is about, but it's some kind of mystery involved.
Draw 4:
5 of spades. And Spock!
A Hyped Book.
The Sky Weaver by Kristen Ciccarelli. This is the last book in the series I'm reading because my teen friend wants me to.
Replace that prompt:
1st in a series. That's pretty self-explanatory, I think.
Drwa 5:
6 of Spades
A book about books! My fave!
Ex Libris by Michiko Kakutani - I just really want to read this! Also, it's on my 50 by 50 list.
The replacement for this one was Pet Pick, but I forgot to take a picture of it. Basically I'll put three books on the floor with treats on each one and read the book the dog or cat goes to first.
Draw 6:
7 of hearts
Re-Read!!!
I have a Jar for that!
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen - I drew Sense and Sensibility and I'm not mad about it.
Replace that prompt:
Gifted: A book that was given to me. I have a lot of those.
There are two more things I wanted to get on my list. I'm a bit behind on my 50 by 50 books, so I'm going to add two more books that will catch me up on that.
On Reading Well: Finding the Good Life Through Great Books by Karen Swallow Prior - I'm not sure why this is on my 50 by 50 list since I don't actually own it. I'm getting it from the library on ebook. That way, if I decide the Missouri Review doesn't count as "A different format than normal" this will count.
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir - I'm finally going to finish this one!!! The bookmark is still in it from last summer.
Ok. That's 8 books. I feel like that's a doable number. Unless I hit a reading slump or S&S take forever to read. It's pretty small text.
What do you plan to read in March?
