Books I Still Plan To Read

This is today's Top 5 Wednesday topic, but I'm going to use it as an opportunity to review my 50 by 50 list to see what I need to read this year to be able to finish the list on time.

So my plan is to read a bunch of the short books this year so I can also reach my Goodreads goal of 100 books. Next year, I plan to do a pages read goal instead of a number of books, that way I can read the big books and not freak out about watching my goal slip away.

The Five

The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold - This book tackles some of the myths about the women the man killed. She purposely focuses on the victims, instead of the villain.

Milk and Honey

Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal - Set in the Regency Era, this book includes glamour magic in the pursuit of romance.

Smoke

Smoke by Dan Vyleta - In this alternate Victorian England, you can tell a person's morality by the color of smoke they give off. Rich people have pure, clean, white smoke, while the lower classes have dirty, dark, grey smoke. Or is that what's really happening?

Mothers

The Mothers by Brit Bennett - This is about a black community where a motherless teen hooks up with the preacher's son and gets pregnant.

Sicilian Lions

Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions by Mario Giordano - Auntie Poldi retires to Sicily, but she can't just relax. She gets involved in local mystery.

Ok. There are 5 books that I could read this year to keep up with my 50 by 50 challenge.
