February 2023 Library Update

I don't think there will be any surprises here. But for the sake of consistency, I'll do the thing.

CHECKED OUT

Born in Blackness

Born In Blackness: Africa, Africans, and the Making of the Modern World, 1471 to the Second World War by Howard. W. French - I havent yet decided if I will be reading this for my work reading. I'm not really in a headspace to give it a fair shot.

Death in Tokyo

A Death in Tokyo by Keigo Higashino - I actually started this one today. So far so good. It seems like a pretty open and shut case, but that wouldn't be a good book. There are a whole lot of pages left for it to be that easy.

Final Gambit

The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes - Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh, this is the only book I have out that has people waiting for it. We'll see if that spurs me to crack it open.

No Good Men

No Good Men Among the Living: America, the Taliban, and the War Through Afghan Eyes by Anand Gopal - This is another work book I haven't opened yet.

Year of the Rabbit

Year of the Rabbit by Tian Veasna - I have actually read some of this. It's a graphic novel, so it reads quickly, but it's also about scary stuff, so I have not raced through it.

Perestroika

Perestroika in Paris by Jane Smiley - I still have this hanging around, but haven't read it yet. Sigh.

ON HOLD

Golden Peninsula

The Golden Peninsula: Culture and Adaptation in Mainland Southeast Asia by Charles F. Keyes - I would prefer to read books written by people who grew up in that culture, but those books are probably not written in English or translated for me.

News of a Kidnaping

News of a Kidnapping by Gabriel Garcia Marquez - This is my work book for South America. I wonder if this will be as weird as his fiction.

Saga

Saga, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples - I have listened to people rave about this graphic novel series for years. I currently need quick reads that I can fly through. So I ordered volume 1.

Spy Family 2
Spy Family 3
Spy Family 4

SpyxFamily by Tatsuya Endo - I read the first volume last month and thought it was only okay. My kid said I need to at least read until they get a dog. So I requested a few more volumes.

Mystery of Mysteries

A Mystery of Mysteries: The Death and Life of Edgar Allan Poe by Mark Dawidziak - This book comes out in May, so this one will be hanging around for awhile.

There you go. That's the state of my library list.
