Friday Reads June 30, 2023
I realize that I just posted my July TBR yesterday, but June is not over yet. Here's what I'm reading.
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig - I haven't picked this up for over a week, but I am 2/3 through it. I need to stop dorking around and finish it off. I like it so far. I like the main character, even though she's made some catastrophically bad decisions.
Quietly Hostile: Essays by Samantha Irby - I started this audiobook on my drive to Chicago which turned out to be a mistake. As hit the edge of Chicago I started the essay about the fact that she pees herself regularly because her bladder is tiny. I had to pee. I was stuck in traffic. Like it took and hour and a half to go 19 miles because traffic was so bad. And I'm listening to her talking about pee. It was tortuous. Other than that, she's hilarious.
Alone Out Here by Riley Redgate - I started this on our anniversary vacation which was not wise. The beginning is very intense. As in, it's the end of the world. I am really impressed with the way the actual book is put together. The paper is super high quality. It feels like a book I need to pay better attention to than I can on vacation.
The Windsor Knot by S. J. Bennett - Since the space book was too much for me I switched to this. I said something to my hubby about it. He said, "Oh is the queen solving crimes?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Oh I was kidding, but I could see how that would be interesting." It's very cute. I wonder if the author will switch to King Charles III now.
So that's what I've got on my plate this Friday.
