Friday Reads 7/7/2023
I don't know about where you are in the world, but here it is gloomy and rainy. Perfect reading weather. I am not mad about what the rain is doing to our high temperatures either. It definitely doesn't feel like July. So, what will I be reading? Let's have a look.

A Reader on Reading by Alberto Manguel - I know I tried to read this once before and just couldn't make my brain focus. This time, I am doing better. I still find my thoughts wandering and have to go back and read a paragraph or two, but I am understanding it now. I have a library copy and I have decided (20 pages in) that I need to own a copy so I can tab it up and annotate it. I have many thoughts while I've reading.

Bunny Mellon: The Life of an American Style Legend by Meryl Gordon - I have only read about 15% of this, and I am up to the part where she has met her first husband at a debutante party. So far I really like her. She was raised in wealth and opulence, but she still managed to hang on to a respect for education and realize how lucky she is.

Happy Place by Emily Henry - I finished the ebook I was reading, so I went to my NetGalley account and chose this one to start next. I tend to read ebooks at work so it doesn't look like I'm goofing off. Who knew that librarians would not be allowed to read at work? This is a romance about a couple who broke up 6 months ago, but didn't tell their closest friends. Now they are all staying at a beach house for the last time before the friend's parents sell it. They are trying to pretend to be a couple during the vacation.

The Swifts: A Dictionary of Scoundrels by Beth Lincoln - If I get bogged down with too much serious "literatoor" I may pick up this fun middle grade novel about a girl solving a murder in her weird family.
That's enough for one post, I think. I'm feeling pretty scattered. I'm reading a little here and a little there and not getting very far in anything.
What are you reading?
