Friday Reads 7/14/2023

It's Friday. I am reading some books. Let's chat about them.

Bunny Mellon: The Life of an American Style Legend by Meryl Gordon - I was unwell yesterday and I sat on my couch and read 160 pages of this. I still have about a hundred to go, but we are getting closer. It's halfway through the month and I haven't read anything on my July TBR! In my defense, I did start with the longest and most dense books.

A Reader on Reading by Alberto Manguel - I have already discerned that I need to own a copy of this. There are so many parts I want to annotate. This is a short book, but it is incredibly dense. Wall to wall text and he uses big words. I have had to get out my dictionary app a couple of times.

Happy Place by Emily Henry - I'm reading this on my Kindle which means it doesn't get a lot of attention. It's not on my TBR either, which makes it even less of a priority. It's a good time, though.

The Swifts: A Dictionary of Scoundrels by Beth Lincoln - I read the first chapter of this and was enchanted. When I get time to focus on it, it will be super fun. The first chapter starts with a funeral. Arch-Aunt Schadenfreude is supervising a practice of her funeral and it's not going well. It was hilarious. I am looking forward to this one.

After these, I have no idea. There are still two Sequoyah books and 2 50 by 50 books left. I probably should focus on the 50 by 50 ones and read some from my actual shelves. Focus on priorities.
