July 2023 Library Update
I don't know how it is possible that it is time for the July Library Update, but here we are. This month has been a whirlwind. But let's get busy.
CHECKED OUT
America As Story: Historical Fiction for Middle and Secondary Schools by Rosemary K. Coffey and Elizabeth F. Howard - I originally checked this out for hopefully getting a job in a middle or high school library. Now that that's off the table, I am hanging onto it in case I get the job at the community college because it focuses on history and political science classes. This could be useful.
The Swifts by Beth Lincoln - I've probably pretty well discussed this one to death, but I still have it checked out. I started it, but then got side tracked. So weird how that happens.
Now I'll just list all the Sequoyah Books I still have checked out:
African Town: Inspired by the True Story of the Last American Slave Ship by Irene Latham
A Forgery of Roses by Jessica S. Olson - sidenote. I'm pretty sure forgery is not the collective form of roses. How do you forge roses?
Wrecked by Heater Henson
This Golden State by Merit Weisenberg
Jumper by Melanie Crowder
Love Radio by Ebony LaDelle
ON HOLD
On a Sunbeam by Tillie Walden - This is a graphic novel and I enjoyed other books by this author. I'm first on the hold list, but I may never get it. There are 2 copies in the collection. One was do June 20 and one was due last August.
Solo Leveling by Chugong - I saw a BookTuber talking about this series and I really liked the artwork I saw. There is a decent chance I'll see this book next month. We have 4 copies. Two were due last year, but one is due in a week and one is checked out to the bookmobile so it will come back eventually.
Thunder & Lightning: Weather Past, Present, Future by Lauren Redniss - I originally put this on my July TBR because the one copy was due June 28. It's still out. I'm first on the list.
The Road to Roswell by Connie Willis - I am supes excited for this one. I was number 20 on the list, but the first 10 copies have gone out so now I'm number 10 on the list. I'm hoping to get it next month.
Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Fairies by Heather Fawcett - I kept seeing this all over BookTube and I just kept thinking it isn't for me. But then I saw that it is a cozy fantasy about a bookish researcher who is studying the Fae. Ok. You had me at cozy fantasy. We have five copies and I'm number 16 on the list. I'm looking at September for this one.
Dirty Thirty by Janet Evanovich - Get used to seeing this on my Library Update. It comes out on Halloween and I'm number 93 on the wait list. Most likely we will order about 50 copies. If I get lucky, we'll get one of the Quick Pick copies and I can read that before my turn comes on the list. I love the bling on this cover.
Ok. I think that's everything.
