September 2023 Goodreads Update Pt. 2
You can't tell it by the weather at my house, but we are nearing the end of September! That means it's time to tell you what I've added to my Goodreads TBR list since the last post.
The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo - This comes out next April. Can you guess why I already have it on my TBR? Correct. Vampires. I will be trolling Netgalley for this eARC from now until April. What else is it about? Don't know. Don't care.
In Light of All Darkness: Inside the Polly Klaas Kidnapping and the Search for America's Child by Kim Cross - Ok. I know. Not my usual fare. But I heard a review of it recently that compared it to I'll Be Gone In the Dark. The author knows the family and this book is incredibly impactful. I don't remember this event. I was a sophomore in college and I wasn't really paying attention to the world. Apparently, this case changed the way the FBI investigates kidnapping cases.
Down the Hill: My Descent Into the Double Murder in Delphi by Susan Hendricks - Same podcast, different true crime book. This one happened in 2017. 2 teen girls go for a hike near one of their houses. Halfway through the hike, they run into a guy and have such a weird conversation that one of the girls recorded it on her cell phone. Less than a day later their bodies are found a mile away. They caught the guy a year ago, so this is a resolved case, which makes me feel better.
Murder at Mallowan Hall by Colleen Cambridge - More murder, less fact. This mystery series stars the housekeeper for Agatha Christie. I'm interested.
That Can Be Arranged: A Muslim Love Story by Huda Fahmy - I really enjoyed this author's book about finding her identity when she isn't the only girl in a hijab. This is clearly about the Muslim arranged marriage tradition.
I Am A Cat by Soseki Natsume - This is a three volume classic Japanese story. I'm really excited about it and so is my cat-loving child.
And that's all she wrote! I must be too busy to add things to Goodreads. I'm not mad about it.
