December 2023 TBR

Today was weird. The last two days have not gone as planned, so this is going up rather late.

I need 7 more books from my shelves to meet the goal to read 50. I need 1 more work book to meet that goal. I went through my Goodreads shelves and picked some books that are short and also not too dense (hopefully). Obviously I haven't read them so I don't know for sure that they are easy reading, but I tried to stay away from ones I know are difficult reads.

The Great Nijinsky: God of Dance by Lynn Curlee - This is a harcover book with lots of full color illustrations. It is also skinny, so I'm hoping it reads quickly. It probably won't get dragged around with me. I think it will be a stay-at-home book. 120 pages.

At Home With Jane Austen by Kim Wilson - This is another large size hardcover that will probably be a stay-at-home book. It is a weird shape, too, being a square book. Lots of pictures as well. 144 pages.

This Book Is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action, and Do the Work by Tiffany Jewell - This is a YA nonfiction book. It has 160 pages, but YA books typically read pretty quickly.

Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey - This is a neo-western, or alternate history western, or weird western. Esther runs away from an arranged marriage to the American Southwest where there are bandits, fascists, and queer librarian spies on horseback. 176 pages.

Nice Cup of Tea and a Sit Down by Stuart Payne - This is pretty much just about tea and biscuits. 176 pages.

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman - This one has almost 300 pages so I really hope it reads quickly. I have all the books in the series. I saw the movie decades ago and remember nothing, so it will be a surprise.

Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman - This is the book I'll read for my work goal. 273 pages. This assumes that the average life span is 4000 weeks and goes from there. I've heard good things.

And there we go. 7 books to finish up my challenge to read 50 books from my physical shelves. Wish me luck!
