Friday Reads 12/22/2023
I think it's Friday. Actually, I'm more certain of the day of the week than the date. I literally have to pull up a mental picture of a calendar to remember the date. That's where we're at. 2 weeks of illness takes a toll on the sense of reality.
Anyway, since I've been sick, I've had lots of reading time. I'm down to one book that I started and still need to finish. Well, two if you count the audiobook.
The Shadow Land by Elizabeth Kostova - I'm about halfway through this now. Stuff happens, but also, nothing happens. It feels like it's very atmospheric and character-focused, but it also feels like it could turn into a political thriller at any moment.
The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow - I haven't listened to this in two weeks. I am seriously considering requesting the physical book from the library and just finishing it that way.
Why We Read: On Bookworms, Libraries, and Just One More Page Before Lights Out by Shannon Reed - I have an eARC of this one that I really want to read, also. It comes out February 6. If I get it done by January 1, I can vote for it for Library Reads. You know, if it's that good. I have high hopes for it, though. It looks right up my alley.
That's it for now!
