Friday Reads 12/31/2023
It's the very last Friday of the year!!! It will come as no surprise to anyone that I will be reading at the end of the year, and at the beginning of the new one. Well, not directly at the end and beginning, because we will be having family game night. But on the last day and the first day. Let's take a look.
Why We Read: On Bookworms, Libraries, and Just One More Page Before Lights Out - by Shannon Reed - I actually plan to finish this at work today. It comes out in February, but if I want to vote for it for Library Reads, I have to do that before January 1. I'm really enjoying it, so I probably will vote for it.
The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow - I got the print version of this from the library so I could read it more than I was doing on audiobook. Then, of course, I listened to it some more today. Part one retells the pertinent parts of Pride and Prejudice from Mary's point of view up until Charlotte Lucas marries Mr. Collins. In part two, we get a quick summary of the end of P&P and then Mr. Bennet dies and Mary and her mother (Kitty has got married) are shipped off to live with Jane and Mr. Bingley. That's where I've listened to, so I don't know what will happen next, but I am intrigued.
Office Gods by Catharina Octorina - I saw this on a website somewhere and saw that my library was getting it, so I requested it. It's a graphic novel, written in manga style, except it doesn't read from right to left. It's published like a Western book. Interesting. This will probably only take an hour or two to read, so I'll slip this in somewhere.
Most likely, these won't take me all the way through the week, so then I will pick up one of my January TBR books.
What are you reading?
