February '24 Library Update
I was thinking that the 22nd was early to do a library update, but then I realized that it's February which is a short month. So here we are. Let's see what my library account is doing.
CHECKED OUT
Fridge Love: Organize Your Refrigerator for a Healthier Happier Life by Kristen Hong - I saw this on display and nabbed it for my kid. They recently got tired of losing their food in the fridge and got busy organizing it. Our fridge looks a whole lot more like this picture now. Well, it did before I brought the book home. I just thought they'd like to see more ideas.
Mexikid by Pedro Martin - This is a graphic novel about a author's life in the 1970s as the 6th of nine kids. At one point, his whole family caravans to Mexico to get his grandfather and move him back to their home in California. This was one of the books on the Youth Media Awards list. Also, I was tired of not finishing a book, so I brought home a book I can finish.
Houses with a Story by Seiji Yoshida - This was also a Youth Media Award listee. This is about unique living places all over the world. Each house has these beautiful drawings and drawings of a cutaway of the interior, but what really draws me in is the floor plan drawings. I LOVE a floor plan. I'm weird that way.
ON HOLD
One Year at Ellsmere by Faith Erin Hicks - I cannot remember where I heard this book recommended, but I love a boarding school book. I also love a story about a boarding school with a monster. This one is ready for me to pick up tomorrow.
Big by Vasthi Harrison - See all the awards on that cover? Well, it was also on the Youth Media Awards list, so of course I nabbed it. It's a picture book. It'll take 10 minutes to read. This is on its way to my library. Hopefully I can get it tomorrow.
Buffalo Fluffalo by Bess Kalb and Erin Kraan - I found this through an email from our collection management department about books they had ordered. Isn't it cute? This is also on its way to me. Maybe tomorrow?
The Collectors edited by A.S. King - This is a collection of stories by YA authors about unique collections. I have heard of about half the authors, but one of them is Jason Reynolds, so I'll definitely be picking this up. I'm first on the list for this one.
Escaping Mr. Rochester b L.L. McKinney - This is a gay, black, twisted retelling of Jane Eyre. I heard it's really good. I'm first on the list for this one, but it's still on order so it will be awhile.
Go Forth and Tell: The Life of Augusta Baker Librarian and Master Storyteller by Breanna J. McDaniels and April Harrison - This one has been on my list for awhile now, but at least now it's in process. This means the books have made it to the service center and are being "libraried up". I'm first on the list for this one, too.
Change Your Schedule, Change Your Life: How to Harness the Power of Clock Genes to Lose Weight, Optimize Your Workout, and Finally Get a Good Night's Sleep by Dr. Suhas Kshirsagar - I am withholding judgment on this until I get it. The things it lists to draw you in are not particularly interesting to me, but I'll start it, anyway. I'm second on the list, but there is only one copy in the system, so I may never actually get it.
The 5 am Club: Own Your Morning Elevate Your Life by Robin Sharma - This has been on hold for awhile also. I'm still number 11 on the list. We have 4 copies in the system, but it's so popular, they've ordered 5 more copies. It will still take awhile to get it. I really don't think I will ever be a morning person, but maybe there will be some good tips I can use.
That's it. Yay! Do you have any library books out? Any you're waiting on?
