Friday Reads 3/29/2024
Is it weird to say "Happy Good Friday"? I mean, it's Good Friday, but I still hope it's happy for you. You know? Anyway, March ends this weekend. I have a small struggle. I finished all my March TBR books, but instead of immediately picking up the next book I didn't. I read a manga book that took about an hour. But I haven't picked up a physical book yet. I can't decide what I want to start. I have another manga to read, but after that's done, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe writing this post will help me parse it out.
Let's start with the things I'm currently reading digitally.
The Great Divide by Cristna Henriquez - I'm still sitting at 41% of this one. I should probably pull out my Kindle more often than just at lunch at work. It's hard to be left alone at work. People see you not at a computer and they think you're available to chat. I am enjoying this, though. It's very character driven, so you think nothing's happening, but I like getting to know all these people.
Everyone On This Train Is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson - Here's my problem with audiobooks. I have to be in the right mood. I prefer podcasts when I'm driving which is really just about the only time I listen. I know people listen while they do chores, or whatever, but I usually have a peanut gallery chatting away watching me do chores. Also, I don't do chores for very long at a time. It's hard to listen to a book when you only do it in 10 minute pieces. That being said, this is a great audiobook. The narrator does all the accents (Australian, Irish, American, etc.). I might put this one on hold at the library and just finish it on paper.
Fruits Basket Collector's Edition Vol. 3 by Natsuki Takaya - I have this from the library, I just haven't picked it up, yet. It's pretty long and will probably take a couple of hours to read. It would be cool to get it done before the end of March, though.
I went and looked at my April TBR options lists, and nothing is jumping out at me. Is this a reading slump? Maybe I should start with the class about reading a book I think would bust a slump. That might be good. In that case:
Between the Lines: Stories from the Underground by Uli Buetter Cohen - This has almost 400 pages, but there are a lot of pictures, so I think it will be a quickish read. Also, reading books about books usually works to get me out of a slump.
Ok. I have a plan!
What do you plan to read this week?
